    TOVE LO

Tove Ebba Elsa Nilsson, better known as stage name Tove Lo (Lo is Swedish for Lynx), is a Swedish singer/songwriter who broke out onto the popular music scene in late 2014, with her hit "Habits (Stay High)". To date, she has released one album ("Queen of the Clouds"), one EP ("Truth Serum"), and two successful singles ("Habits" and "Talking Body"). This Dynasty will follow a fictionalized version of Tove Lo's career and discography, utilizing released, unreleased, and covered material. Almost all songs used in this dynasty are real recorded songs by Tove Lo.

FIRST ERA: Breakout with Eponymous Debut Album "Tove Lo"

Tove Lo began her music career as the lead singer of the unsuccessful indie band "Tremblebee", before breaking out on her own as a songwriter and singer. In 2013, she signed with British Mega Label Polydor Records, and began building up her fanbase in the British and European markets. She then began touring worldwide in order to boost her popularity for the release of her debut single shortly after. She finished recording her debut album in November, 2013, and prepared for the release of the lead single later in December. Her first EP, "Jealousy", was released alongside her breakout single of the same name. "Jealousy", the lead single, became a worldwide hit almost instantly after Tove Lo released the song in December 2013 at the Australian Music Awards. The song topped the British, European, and Worldwide charts, and made the top 40 of every other market. Two successful singles later, Tove Lo released her eponymous debut album "Tove Lo" to much critical and commercial success. "Tove Lo" went on to spawn a total of 6 singles.

SECOND ERA: "Truth Serum" and Alcoholism/Drug Addiction

Shortly after the release of her debut album, Tove Lo opted not to tour for the album in order to begin recording her sophomore studio album. In addition, she played at various festivals, including Coachella and Glastonbury, to compensate. However, the sudden rush of fame and fortune coupling with the massive success of her debut album and the pressure put on her by her label caused Tove Lo to fall into alcoholism and drug addiction before the end of 2014. Her habits quickly got out of control, and she was often seen in public drunk and high on narcotics, attracting much controversy and media attention. Tove Lo attempted to write about more clicheyed themes, such as classic heartbreak and uptempo happy pop songs, however, none of the material she was recording was on par with her previous album. Tove Lo, while always writing her songs, sought the assistance of multiple writers and producers, which still produced average results. This pattern lasted for a little over a year. It wasn't until Tove Lo had a near death experience when she overdosed on cocaine coupled with alcohol on the streets of Stockholm that she decided to get clean. After two months in rehab, she left feeling refreshed and decided to start making music inspired by her addiction. With only one co-writer and one co-producer, Tove Lo began making songs of quality higher than her last album. She officially returned to the music scene in September, 2016, with the release of the lead single "Out of Mind" from her upcoming sophomore album, Truth Serum.

THIRD ERA: "Queen of the Clouds" and Massive Success

After the release of "Paradise", the fifth single from her Sophomore album, Tove Lo wasted no time getting back into the studio to begin working on her third studio album. Inspiration for the album was drawn from her past experiences of addiction, as well as her love of pop music. As a result, the album turned out to sound less melancholy than her last one, yet it still had the dark undertone for which Lo is so well known. In March, 2019, Tove Lo released the lead single from the album, "Habits (Stay High)" which included an instrumental and a popular remix on its track list. The single became a massive success, reaching number 1 in every territory except Latin America. The single went on to sell over 27 Million copies worldwide, Lo's best selling single to date, until the 2nd single from the album, "Talking Body" outsold it. The album holds the record for the most number ones from a single album in the United States, with 6 #1s. In addition, it spawned 5, 4, 3, 3, and 6 number ones in Canada, Great Britain, Europe, Australia, and Asia respectively. The album went on to sell over 20 Million copies worldwide, becoming the best selling album of all time. (See discography below)

About 20 Million Physical copies were printed around the globe, 10 million of which were in the US, making it the most pressings ever made for a release. Within a year, the single had become the best selling single of all time, due to its strong physical and digital sales and outrageously high airplay. In addition to being the best selling single ever, the song is also the best selling singlet ever in the US, UK, Europe, and Oceania, as well as the second best of all time in Canada. It won an award in every category that it was nominated for at every awards event in the world, and was praised for its neo dramatic music video. It sold 10 Million more than the second best selling single of all time, "Anything Could Happen" by her label mate, Ellie Goulding. The single was blamed for the success of album "Queen of the Clouds", and was praised for its dance ability and catchiness. To date, the single has sold over 59 Million copies worldwide, and is still selling an additional 5,000-10,000 weekly. ----------------------------Charts:---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- US: 1 (44,000,000) 4x Diamond --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------CAN: 1 (1,000,000) Diamond ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------LA: 15 (140,000) Platinum -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------UK: 1 (5,000,000) 8x Platinum --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------EUR: 1 (7,800,000) 7x Platinum --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AUS: 1 (840,000) 12x Platinum --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ASA: 1 (175,000) Gold --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- World: 1 (59,000,000) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All Time: 1 (200 Weeks) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
