In between the European and North American legs of his All Night Tour in July 2014, Harry Styles began work on his second solo album. The sophomore effort is expected to drop sometime in 2015, but little is known about it so far. Will the album solidify his position as a modern day pop icon after his successful debut, or could it all have been a fluke? Should he have stuck with One Direction after all?

          May 2015

          - The single Missing Me continued to sell well across the world in the beginning of the month ahead of the release of the album Radioactive on the 18th. Ahead of the anticipated release, Harry gave interviews to several media publications across the world in order to boost hype and pre-orders.

          - In the week preceding the release of Radioactive, Harry performed Missing Me on the season finale of American Idol. The performance received rave reviews and boosted the sales of the track, but due to other releases it slipped one place on the Hot 100 to #5.

          - Radioactive is released on 18th May. The album receives much better reviews than Harry's eponymous debut, scoring a 79% score on Metacritic and comments calling it "a brilliant record". Over the weekend preceding the release, Harry performed on the season finale of Saturday Night Live, and puts on a show at New York's Beacon Theatre where he played many of the album's songs for the first time. Reviews called the show "outstanding". He also appeared on MuchMusic in Canada before flying to Europe to appear on Le Grand Journal in France and The Graham Norton Show in the UK, where he also performed another show at Hammersmith Apollo in London.

          - The promotional appearances and success of lead single Missing Me helped Radioactive to shift huge numbers in it's first week, with the album becoming Harry's first number one album in most markets. It hit the top spot in the US, Canada, Latin America, UK and Oceania whilst hitting #2 in Asia. Radioactive, despite Harry's huge reputation, good reviews, smash hit lead single and focused promotion in the area, only charted at #9 in Europe with underwhelming sales for some unexplained reason (cough).

          Radioactive First Week Sales:
          US: 531,267
          Canada: 82,344
          Latin America: 66,194
          UK: 227,756
          Europe: 48,996
          Oceania: 52,601
          Asia: 193,028
          TOTAL: 1,202,186

          - In the final week of the month, Harry made major TV appearances in the UK with performances on the finale of Britain's Got Talent and Later... with Jools Holland helping the album stay #1 in it's second week, with another week of 100k+ sales, making the album go platinum in only two weeks. It has also quickly gone platinum in Canada, Latin America, Oceania and Asia. Even with Radioactive's underperformance in Europe, it looks like it will easily surpass worldwide sales of Harry's debut, which has now almost sold 5 million copies.
