  • Lukas Walls

Lukas Christopher Walls (born November 23rd, 1982) is an American singer-songwriter. Lukas Walls was born and raised in rural Tennessee, where he developed a passion for country music that would later define his entire career. Unlike many other artists, Lukas did not start his career as early as he would like. Despite writing songs that would later become part of his debut album, Lukas was focused on basketball, playing for The University of Tennessee-Knoxville, where he would also earn a degree in Anthropology. Shortly after graduating in 2012, Lukas started to write songs for artists he knew and signed development deal with Restless Woods. Unhappy with the conditions that were keeping him from recording an album, he left the record label. Willing to give a chance to his talents like never before, he signed with Mainstream Records, becoming their first signed act.

Preparation for Lukas' debut album started in 2013, when Mainstream Records decided to allocate a big amount of its funds in support of the project. Both the record label and Lukas decided to believe in his creative potential and thought it would be better to have a honest album written and produced by Lukas himself. The songwriting process was headed by Mitzi Kiesselbach, who wrote many quality songs in the past. During the production, Lukas named the album Montevallo. When asked about the meaning behind the name, he said "Montevallo is a beautiful place in Alabama where I spent most of my summers, leading to many stories that are now present in the album". In order to promote the album and Lukas, Montevallo was preceded by a small promotional tour created to showcase the artist's talent and as preparation for the bigger tour that would come next.

The album was promoted not only by the tours, but also by Lukas' appearances in the media. The commercial success of the album was highly praised by Mainstream Records and got Lukas' to be nominated for many awards, despite the album's lukewarm reception from the critics. The awards nominations include Buzz New at the Buzz Factor, Choice Breakout Act at the English Choice Awards, New Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards and Favorite Breakout Artist at the People's Choice Awards. Despite not winning any of the awards, Lukas' popularity increased as a result of being nominated.

Montevallo was released in 06/23/2014 in the U.S., where it earned a gold certificate for selling 504,161 copies to date. The singles release was also limited to the U.S. market, with Next Boyfriend charting in the top 40.

When the Montevallo Tour got to its end, Lukas decided to draw inspiration from the crowd for his second album. This time around, the record label could have a big hit or a big failure in their hands so they decided to invest in a proper production team, with Lukas' supervising everything so that the album would satisfy his fans as much as the first one did. Isaac and Bryah Smith were assigned as producers to this project. Mitzi Kiesselbach was brought back and Ken Arata was also part of the songwriting team. The project took about 10 months to take its final form. Lukas decided to name his sophomore album Wild Ones, while arguing that the title interpretation can be subjective.

The album was promoted by The Wild Ones tour, that was made short because of a health concern, and also by the multiple media appearances including Good Morning America, The Today Show and the New York Times.
